Deck Strategy
Well, I´m finally at home so it should be time to post my deck from this Winter Court!

I´m Pablo Pintor (pintorpin on discord), last years top Crab at worlds, going all the way to top 8, and running a broker deck with dragon splash. This time, as I enjoy consistency, I did the same exact run and lost on the same exact round on streaming (I will try to name that the Pablo Special, losing in top 8 during a streamed game), but with a deck that wasn´t as nearly as cool as last year. This time there was no surprise in my deck, and there was no "nobody expects the spanish inquisition" moments, so I´m deeply sorry that my crab brothers didn´t get to see another crazy deck running hurricane punches or something like that.

But this year I had a lot more fun outside the gaming tables so it makes up for running the most unsurprising, boring crab deck you can find! I really love this community, even the ones that play scorpion.

I managed to go 6-0 during the swiss (this year I learnt to dodge Jakub!), and finally lost on top 8 in a really close game with Poogin (who went to the finals were he faced our new glorious Shogun, also spanish, Fleepa0!).

Well, about the deck, I´m sure none of you knew, but the plan is to build a big tower with lots of attachments and try to put that tower into every conflict that you can. Gaijin Customs is a poor man´s replacement for Fight On, but it makes me only run 1 Talisman. I was really afraid of this pacifism trend that seemed to dominate before worlds so I put some Miya Mystic in (which wasn´t a really good decision, to slow for uni with pacifism, easily clouded by phoenix, didn´t play them a lot). Pacifism is really hard for this deck, but most of the time, they can´t run that and Let Go, so it isn´t that bad. Always try to play jade tetsubo out of illustrious forge or coupled with defend your honor, if they don´t take care of it quicly, you will win the board. As always, drawing with Spyglass and draining honor with Watch Commander is the main strategy of the deck.

The Satoshi RL inclusion (thank you, Fushicho!) coupled with the alredy restricted Spyglass and not having a Water Role to use Fight On really hurt this deck, but, even if I tried hard to come with something new or different, it didn´t feel competitive at all or had a really bad match up against something (for example, the crab/scorp deck that I used to win the spanish GC had a really hard time dealing with unicorn, and I was expecting a lot of unicorns in Worlds), so I had to stick with good old unicrab. Losing a few saves (rebuild) was hard, so I tried to put in as much protection as I could for my characters (to try to win the scorp match up, who always try to push people off bridges), and played all 3 fingers of jade. As I did not have influence for Wayfinders, Cloud the Mind had to get cut too.

I want to give a huge shoutout to all the spanish players that came with me and made this trip legendary (Yoeresel, Fleepa0, Usagi and Gwydion), some of them going as far as sheltering me in their room or making space for me when I won the flight in the last minute during the Spanish GC, you guys are the best!

Congratulations on your result. Now that the roles are freed and the crab clan pack is coming out, do you have any idea what path the clan will take?
This is a very strong deck man. I'd love to see the deck list now that roles are free.
I was rooting for you at the top 8 game and thought you had it when I left for sleep. (Poogin doing the 5 bid versus your 4, forcing out Duty for Poogin to live)

At any rate, thanks a lot for your write-up. Your play of turn 1 action 1 in draw of Mono No Aware was one of the highlights when I watched that on stream. This time I thought you were crushing it and even if the deck wasn't exotic, it was very well played.
This deck is the reason I'm switching to crab.
