Deck Strategy
Hello fellows shinobi players! I went with this deck to Paris GK and make it to Top 8, before my sneaky ascencion was stopped by our beloved Shogun.

Some card choices are surprising but I never pretended to go this far so the deck is not optimised. For exemple, Bayushi Yojiro or Midnight Prowler could easily be remove to add 2 Soshi Shadowshaper. Yojiro was there because I wanted to try it, but during my 8 matchs, his ability was used only once. He has no relevant traits and his high glory can become a problem if he is blank. As for Midnight Prowler, he was there for just being a cheap shinobi.
I was waiting for a lot of Phoenix players so I played 2 Yogo Kikuyo, but in the end, it was maybe 1 too much.

The main idea of the deck is to abuse of Covert keyword (to avoid big characters or duelists) and create a card advantage through multiples effect such as Alibi Master, Bayushi Liar, Secret Cache, Upholding, etc. I also wanted a deck that go fast because I usually play slowly and I didn't want to go to the time limit every game.
KB allows you to play the same game as the Unicorn HMT, but you can defend your provinces, something that Unicorn have troubles to do. And you have access to cancels, another thing that Unicorn don't possess so easily.

I was surprised to see that honor is not a big trouble. Of course, you have to be careful, but Duty is so strong that you are rarely in troubles. And as I said, you go fast, and your opponent have rarely the time to profit of this weakness. In my 6 games saturday, 4 matchs were end quick (about 30 minutes).

Why the Crab splash ? At first, I tried Crane cards, such as Political Rival, Soul Beyond Reproach or Admit Defeat. The results were positives but Crane splash is expensive, so Samuel Benies (the first Shogun) who tried a similar deck advises me to play Hiruma Skirmisher for their low cost, and Reprieve to save From Shadows or Ambush targets. Even if I prefered Political Rival to the Skirmisher, I had to admit that economy could become a problem in a deck that needed to rush. I followed Samuel's advice and it was the right choice.

I was surprised to go this far because I'm just an okay player. I was lucky the first day, and my opponents were not. My two loss were against big characters decks : Phoenix IMS with an honored Tsukune, and Crane with a board larger than the Kaiu Wall :)
At first, I thougth that dishonor decks were the bad match-up, but now I think it's the control decks that slow you in order to build a large board of big guys. Your small shinobis cannot contain the threat of 5 cost characters with attachements or honor tokens.

It was a pleasure to go to my first Kotei and meeting this amazing community. I can't wait for my next tournament and I thank all my opponents, it was a pleasure to play with you :)

If any experienced Scorpion players have advises concerning my list, I will be very happy to read it.

I apologize for my poor english ^^

Nice deck and good comment!
Congrats on your performance! I love this idea of using yojiro in KB to offset the drawback of your dishonored characters. Sad to hear it didn't work.

Would keeper of earth role make sense here? You'd have access to discouraged pursuit which could be the difference in breaking a province or not having to defend an attack/ murder with Aramoro while spies at court is good overall utility it doesn't seem to serve the goal of the deck.

Also was loyal challenger useful? I'm in preference of insolent rival myself lately but curious if he served his purpose.

Look forward to the revision of this deck! Good luck at your next event!
Thanks ! The problem with Yojiro is that my characters have low glory (except for Shoju and Aramaro but I rarely dishonor them. They're here for being good Ambush targets), so Yojiro's main use is against the opponent. But most of the time, it's very stituational and I cannot pay 3 fate (and probably more on him) for a situational ability and just mediocre stats. :(

Keeper of Earth seems logical but I wanted to have the "seeker economy" to have lot of fates in early game and the earth role reduces the impact of Upholding Authority. I really want to try Discourage Pursuit, I will also test Peasant's Advice to avoid problematic provinces such as Restoration of Balance, Magistrate Station, Upholding...

Loyal Challenger is here for the Courtier trait and his goods stats. Losing 1 honor if you don't manage to blank him can be devastating sometimes... I like the art of Insolent Rival. I don't know if I would be able to give him his bonus, but I will try it :)
Nice deck friend. Played with it once and had a great time. I like the above suggestions of keeper of earth/discourage pursuit so am going to try a build of that and see how it gets on.
I was interested in your thoughts about the economy. Did you consider running Manicured Garden over Fertile Fields to increase your supply of fate?
@FightingWalloon Yes, you're right, I changed it to Manicured Garden. At first, I thought that cards were more importants, but sometimes, you need to build a big board, and extra Fates could be needed (even if Crab splash is cheaper than Crane).

I also try Toshi Ranbo in casual play but there is too much Holdings in the deck to make this province worth it.
