Deck Strategy
Hi there - welcome to Mr Crabby Pincer.

UPDATES:
x1 Levy -> x1 Return From Shadows
x3 Vanguard Warrior -> x3 Yasuki Oguri
x1 Way of the Crab + DyH -> x2 For Shame
x3 Iron Mine -> x2 Kuni Labs + x1 Fire and Oil

The deck is what you would expect from a Crab/Scorpy deck - Attrition and dishonour pressure to clamp down on those Crane... I mean the other clans!

To start - it is only using x1 of Fire and Oil to compliment the recalled defences strategy - it might be good enough to put a few more in so your stronghold is likely to have both Fire and Oil and Hiruma output just throwing out the beats every round.

x2 Study Tetsubo might seem weird... but its more pressure on hand size which is nice when you have the clamp down.

The x2 Intimidating Hida is something that might get switched - but having this down on the field at least gives your opponent a "little" to think about in terms of how they play - and with dwindling resources that might be enough to actually be "good" in some match ups. It would be very easy to slide something else in that 3 cost slot - maybe O-Ushi which would synergise with the study tetsubo triggers pretty nicely! The deck is not meant to be aggressive on military hence why she was not an auto-include here.

The Restricted Card...
So was using Iron Mine x3 - though now it is Kuni Labs (due to the low curve in the dynasty) - I suppose the reason I originally went for Iron Mine first is that I do not really want holdings around for very long when on the Hiruma Outpost + Recalled Defences train - it will just get targeted down hard - but the stat boost is very strong when trying to win conflicts. Rebuild does not have that much impact in this type of deck unless I lose the key holdings early on. Iron Mine might mean Witch Hunter, I Hida or Fallen is out for another round which is great tempo - so either is good in this spot.

What you think guys?

How do you win a political conflict that would allow Way with Words to even fire? I love that combo with Watch Commander, but your list is extremely light on Political prowess. Literally the highest Political stat is 2, and you don't even take Kuni Laboratory. I LOVE the idea of this deck, but this is my one major concern. Let me know your thoughts. I'm trying to make something similar, and maybe we can both help each other.
Hey Shane - great insight by the way.

I am sure it is something that could maybe be improved - however it is possible to win - though it needs investment I'll map out some examples I have experienced,

Court Games + Fire and Oil + shameful display + miyako -- dishonoured status can really swing stats in match ups - plus Ornate Fan x3, WwW and E-Tessen all boost political - I tend to stack up 1 or 2 units, then focus on keeping them around with vanguard warriors, iron mines, reprieves etc.

I also tend to be very aggressive with Way of the Crab if it means it means I can push more pressure on POL wins with Way With Words out if I need too - The MIL in the this is strong enough on its own to not suck up cards/resources so you can lean a bit more bias into POL.

It's no secret that POL is expensive in Crab as is - so I didn't want a lot of expensive base POL burdening the deck when the battles can be won another way. The deck doesn't NEED Way with Words to trigger all the time to win - just the threat enough usually lends to players over extended on POL which leaves them open to some MIL blow outs - Nothing worse than being 2 provinces down against a crabby crab!

I'll hopefully get a few more games in over the weekend and I'll feedback if POL struggles (as you point out) - we can maybe brainstorm some nice tweaks to fill up some gaps! @SimpleShane

That's a cool deck build. I can dig the iron Mine over Kuni Lab though process, and I like the new Tetsubo for hand pressure too. If I could make a suggestion. I know you are iffy on Intimidating Hida but they are killers in matches against Crab and Scorpion so having a pair of is still good, plus they are pretty cost effective for their strength too so worst case scenario you get a beefy 4 Mil at 3 cost. Basically I'm saying don't drop the Hidas. They can do you good in more difficult matches or keep your opponent from just trying to wait you out
a couple of thoughts:
to make political easier to win you could go for covert(which also causes unoppposed loss so better yet) Shuichi could be good as well as oguri (or skirmisher)
If you do put oguri in or increase the courtier count for shame could be an option as well. It can also become forced dishonor against bowed characters.
The same way as returning from shadows could be a way to create a sfe province in which to farm cards.
In place of levy you could play in defense of rokugan. Quite good against towers and lion.
finaly I would probably add another fire and oil
The Iron Crane is right having Oguri or Shuichi are not bad cards to have. I personally love Oguri cus he adds Courtier and covert plus he gets a good pump anytime your opponent plays events
What about Roadside Inn to replace the Iron Mines? It requires to keep at least 1 fate to put on your dudes, but if your enemy is foolish enough to use it, it will be more close to his/her downfall.
@Boothberry90 You have convinced me on the I Hida's! Performed really well this weekend too so you were exactly right to suggest not switching them.

@Daidoji Hikori Thanks for this - Shuichi, Oguri (Covert) does seem like a perfect fit here - For shame is great too to slip in... I need to think about what would make sense to cut though if I wanted to try that direction. Perhaps Vanguard Warrior needs to go for Uguri.

@Hiruma Koshisho Honestly had not even considered that card... hmmm interesting...
My only issue with the Inn is it say they May give you an honor, not they have to give you an honor so your opponent can just as easily say no and watch you waste an action for what is potentially a dead card
Thank you for your deck. What about "Purifier Apprentice"? In my games she was able to suck +- 5 honor. It was more defensive-focused deck with Shiro Nishiyama.
@Karlinho I did consider her - she is a solid card for sure - but the stats just do not work for me when I am trying to (for the most part) have consistent political wins/pressure - where it feels she can be played around too much - whoever I take out for her in that curve just seems better in more situations of the game (Oguri, Student or Gallant).
Political Strength can be picked up via attachments but you do lose out on one of the better dishonor abilities by not having her
